Alpaca is the ultimate luxury fiber. The diameter of a single alpaca fiber strand is so fine that it's measured in microns (0.00004 inch = 1 micron). Alpaca fiber typically ranges from 15-30 microns in diameter -- the lower the micron, the finer the fiber. The fineness and other qualities of an individual alpaca's fiber are measured scientifically with a histogram. Elite alpaca fiber is consistently fine, dense, soft, lustrous, strong, bright and crimpy. Each grades of alpaca fiber is highly sought-after for a wide range of end products, ranging from handmade crafts to couture apparel to commercial applications.
Fiber Sales. We offer raw riber and machine-spun yarns, including solids and color blends, all from our herd's annual spring shearing. Pricing for yarn is determined by weight, color, and quality.
